As Vita’s Chief IP Counsel, Martin enjoys working on Vita’s large portfolio of patents and patent applications, guiding Vita’s trademark processes, and supporting licensing activities. His deep understanding of mechanical devices, drone technologies, and machine learning systems allows him to identify and protect the wide range patentable subject matter under development at Vita. Martin’s years of experience both in-house at companies and as outside counsel at law firms helps him relate to and guide Vita’s leadership through complex intellectual property waters while managing outside counsel. Martin is an unusual patent attorney because he qualified to take the patent bar by taking and passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (the "FE"), a post-Bachelor of Science exam which engineers must pass on their way to becoming licensed. Martin’s personal interests include the development of life on early Earth, information theory, evolution of computer technologies, and mechanical fish.
