Alaska Air National Guard Completes Training for Vita Rescue System

B

roomfield, CO — May 6, 2025Vita Inclinata, a leading provider of intelligent lifting technology and solutions for aerospace and industrial construction industries, today announced the Alaska Air National Guard’s 210th Rescue Squadron (RQS) has completed its Vita™ Rescue System® (VRS) training certification and is now fully mission-ready to deploy the hoist technology in real-world rescue operations.

This milestone comes just months after the VRS completed U.S. Army airworthiness qualification and Air Force operational testing and following its first US Military field deployment with the South Carolina Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (SC-HART). Now, the Alaska Air Guard has become trained and authorized to use the VRS in live missions—marking a significant step forward in the Department of Defense’s push to modernize MEDEVAC capabilities.

Renowned for executing high-stakes missions in some of the world’s most extreme environments, the 210th RQS conducted three days of intensive VRS integration training at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The curriculum included classroom instruction, aircraft system integration, rooftop and over-pad hoisting, and emergency procedure simulations. Training focused on Arctic readiness, confined-area rescues, and rotor wash management.

“Today’s battlefield, and rescue field, demands more than traditional rope and litter missions. It demands precision, adaptability, and bold innovation,” said Derek Sikora, Chief Technology Officer of Vita Inclinata. “The VRS’s real-time stabilization capabilities represent a critical leap in mission safety and control. The Alaska Air Guard is leading the next era of hoist rescue.”

The training also included procedures for simulated system degradation, confirming the aircrew’s ability to complete hoists even under partial system failure, an essential factor in remote and high-risk rescues. Operational testing demonstrated the VRS’s effectiveness in stabilizing litters in rotor wash and high-wind conditions, long recognized as challenges for traditional tag-line-based methods.
